Joseph: Sorry to be so tardy in responding. I'll give you a short
summary of my part of the family and follow-up later with more
specifics.

I was born Private, 1942, in Washington, D.C., to Ida Virginia Goshorn
(daughter of a federal civil servant and a housewife who's families came
to Virginia and Maryland in the late 1700's and early 1800's
respectively) and Carl Pergler (son of Charles Pergler, the ambassador).
My parents were on their honeymoon in Cuba when Pearl Harbor was bombed.
My father left for England a few days before I was born. He served with
distinction in the Army, including time on Omar Bradley's staff, and
returned to the U.S. in 1946, when I saw him for the first time. After
so long apart, my parents marriage lasted only about 6 months more, and
they subsequently divorced in 1947. Both remarried; my father in 1949
to Margaret, and my mother in 1950. I spent much of my early childhood
living with my mother and grandmother Goshorn in Fairfax, Virginia, but
spent much time with my Pergler grandparents who lived in Washington,
DC. Grandfather Pergler died in 1954 having directed the team that
dafted the new Korean constitution after the war. After he died,
Grandmother (Ella) moved to an "assisted living" home in a suburb of
Philadelphia, to be near her two daughters, Ella and Margaret. My
father was back in the Air Force (after spending some time as an
attorney in the U.S. Justice Department).

My father adopted his wife Margarets two children (Marty and Robert) and
had a son (Charles - Chuck). Margaret and Marty (Margaret) still live in
Alexandria and Arlington, Virginia respectively. Robert is in Texas,
and Chuck in New Mexico.

My wife Karen and I were divorced about 5 years ago. She still lives in
Kensington, Maryland...

...PRIVATE INFORMATION REMOVED...

I worked for the federal government as a bio-medical research manager
(NIH and US Public Health Service) for 27 years, before taking an early
retirement in 1995. I also left the government for almost 8 years,
working for an Italian pharmaceutical company as COO of their commercial
side (opening their US offices), and subsequently as President of their
research foundation. I now sell AFLAC insurance in the Mid-Atlantic
region.

I am very pleased you contacted me. The site is now and promises to be
very interesting and enlightening. I am sure it will also interest and
benefit my children and grandchildren. I will be pleased to contribute
in any way possible. Thanks again. Carl
